Las Vegas SUN: Groom With TB Under Federal Quarantine

Las Vegas SUN: Groom With TB Under Federal Quarantine

more on the TB guy

Besides the fact that he didn’t do what he was told to do—at any point in this. Now we have this quote:
"I'm a very well-educated, successful, intelligent person," he told the paper. "This is insane to me that I have an armed guard outside my door when I've cooperated with everything other than the whole solitary-confinement-in-Italy thing."

I cooperated and did what they said. This man is a danger and a liar. He sneaked back into the country—he flew when ordered not to—twice and now he has a problem because people think he shouldn’t be let out on his own.
I want him charged—with the costs of cleaning up his mess.

Perhaps I’m overly sensitive but one of the medications I’m taking right now makes me susceptible to TB. And here his guy is not listening to anyone and then bitching about it.

I hope he hasn’t infected anyone but I really don’t care if his recovery is long and costly as long as he is paying. JERK!

Las Vegas SUN: ACLU: Boeing Offshoot Helped CIA

Las Vegas SUN: ACLU: Boeing Offshoot Helped CIA

Hs the ACLU become just another anti-American organization? This looks a lot like the deal with the girl killed in Gaza. Corrie someone—remember her parents wanted to sue CAT because they sold equipment to Israel.
I used to have some respect for them but lately they will not take a case that is in any way against their base or so it seems.

Las Vegas SUN: TB Patient Leaves Atlanta Hospital

what is this guy’s nationality?

I want to know more about him—look at this schedule. Especially the return trip. Was his wife with him all the time? Was this some sort of test?

Hate to be that way but the public health officials in America tend to downplay everything so as to no “panic” the public.

Las Vegas SUN: N.H. Governor Signs Civil Unions Law

I can live with this

I know a lot of republicans can’t. Perhaps that is why I’m no longer one. As I’ve said before I want the government out of my bedroom, my hospital room, my kitchen and my wallet.

If gays are really committed to being together I have nothing against civil unions, which would give them some legal status.

the only change here is that a CEO is publicly telling the truth

Carl’s Jr./Hardee’s CEO says the biggest supporters of “healthy eating” is the media. Says customers what big burgers.
While this might be true it still fits with the media world view. See they know better and everyone else needs to educated.

NASCAR to Use COT Exclusively in 2008 :: WRAL.com

NASCAR to Use COT Exclusively in 2008 :: WRAL.com

tomorrow starts in 2008

At ECU our little marketing slogan is “tomorrow starts here.” Not bad and better than our old one of “huh? What was that again?”
But I’m talking about the car of tomorrow in NASCAR. It is being phased in this year and was to not be on the full schedule until 2009. However, it looks like it will be full time in 2008. Nice move—no really. Part of the deal was to get a car that will work—sort of—at all tracks and save money for teams that need the savings. The sport has gotten too expensive so that it is about like major league baseball. Only the really rich can win or place. All others will get a nice framed certificate of participation.
However, this year the COT has been added in with all the other cars and is an increased burden.
I hope it helps—BTW they also say that the rule book will be in force with this car. That means no little cute tricks to give you an edge.
In the past I’ve had problems with NASCAR rulings but they got this one right—IMO.

Case continues despite attack: Judge refuses to let courtroom chaos end in mistrial - Local & Regional - BostonHerald.com

Case continues despite attack: Judge refuses to let courtroom chaos end in mistrial - Local & Regional - BostonHerald.com

this is a change
A judge with backbone

However, read the article the ACLU and some lawyer types will be up in arms or beside themselves or sitting in the corner and wetting their collective pants.

Basically, this guy –in open court—attacked the jurors and hit one of them. He is on trial for shooting a cop and seems to have been after a mistrial. The judge refused to grant one and didn’t even question the jury. He said the guy wasn’t going to gain from his actions. Great—also look at the picture—this guy just looks bright. Although it might be his lawyer who is crying that this is a miscarriage of justice. Perhaps they can let this jury try him for assault also.

file under “things that never change”
Advocates for the homeless are upset that the city wants to move them out of a tent city. This camp is on both public and private land. Really, I’ve never been able to understand why the argument “they are part of the public” gives the homeless the right to alter the use of a piece of land and to also commandeer private land.

NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Stats Wins By Driver

just who is Junior?
I’ve been reading the news and the blogs since Jr. decided to leave. The Earnhardt army is convinced he is the second coming of his father. It had to be bad equipment or that evil stepmother who was holding him back. Well now we’ll see. No excuses from now on out. Look at the chart of NASCAR winners. Is Jr. his dad? I don’t know but with one more win he could catch Neil Bonnett and Geoff Bodine. Both were good drivers but were a long way from being Dale sr. He is still two behind Davey.

I get to go give a talk tomorrow evening
It’s something we get/need/are expected to do from time to time. The creative people read their work to book clubs and people like me give talks to industry groups or professionals. On Tuesday night I will talk to basically a group of purchasing managers—about negotiations. Nothing like talking about something they do everyday and do better than I.
When faced with situations I usually go back to principles—basics and review them. I work on the idea what when things become second nature we also have tended to shorten the process and might miss things. Usually this works – the folks usually appreciate the effort and remember something they should be doing.
However, this ahs to be sold as a refresher and not as something an academic thinks they should be doing. Luckily in negotiations the theory and practice run pretty close together—except perhaps for those pushing a “win-win” only agenda.
While I firmly believe in integrative bargaining or win-win negotiations; it is not called for in every case. Yes I know some big names in the field think it is but I don’t agree.

France's Royal warns of violence if Sarkozy wins

France's Royal warns of violence if Sarkozy wins

a glimpse into how the left really thinks

The socialist candidate in France warned that people would get violent if the other guy won. Is this how they really think—I believe so. Vote for us because we will appease the nasty people. Stand up to them??? Never—we will placate them and give them things and let the rioters have a veto on the election. That isn’t democracy it is assisted mob rule.

Judge Halts Wake Year-Round School Plan :: WRAL.com

Judge Halts Wake Year-Round School Plan :: WRAL.com
judge rules against mandatory year round school
Everyone made their emotional pleas but basically the judge ruled the school board of Wake County [Raleigh] did not have the authority to change the calendar that much.
I really don’t know if the overcrowding is that bad in Wake County that only a year round school will do. However, it does look like two things are at play in the school board. One is they are fixated on the year round concept—no other solution seems to even get a look and also I think they are intent on “punishing” the people and the commissioners of the county because they all haven’t seen it their way and approved new taxes.

Might be good ol’ group think—

I should be quiet lately they have threatened to sue those who oppose them—because only the wake school board ahs the interests of the students at heart.
