Dorset Echo brings news, sport and information from Weymouth, Portland, Dorchester and Dorset.

Dorset Echo brings news, sport and information from Weymouth, Portland, Dorchester and Dorset.

this sounds like a bad Monty Python sketch
For years a baker has been making novelty tarts shaped like pig and calling them “pig cakes.” Now the local idiot says “The fact is that piece of food needs to be properly described so that the consumer can tell what it is.
"There's nothing wrong with using other names but it must be accompanied by the true name of the food.”
This is the type of person who will regulate the world if given a chance and think they’re doing a good thing.
I’m beginning to believe everyone in England with a bit of authority has let it go to their collective heads. These people are morons.

Also this is the EU— our betters the left wants us to use as our model.
Oh the issue ---cattle are causing air quality issues and the EU wants to regualte feed. Soon they will want to mandate that everyone become a vegan-- see how that plays in France.

Las Vegas SUN: Bishop, Partner Plan Commitment Ceremony

Las Vegas SUN: Bishop, Partner Plan Commitment Ceremony
he proves it again
Don’t get me wrong – I don’t care if the bishop of N.H. is gay—I really don’t. however, with the eyes of the entire world wide Anglican communion on us and with all trying to find a way to compromise without losing principles or face—he wants a commitment ceremony. Great that he ahs been with his partner for 18 years but it ain’t all about you Gene. Think of other people –other non-gay people—for once.

YouTube - Edwards Wife Plays Virginia Tech Race Card on Hardball

YouTube - Edwards Wife Plays Virginia Tech Race Card on Hardball

the pattern of problems with his campaign now is becoming clear

The problem is Edwards’s wife—sorry I know she has cancer but that doesn’t mean she can’t be a problem. The bloggers that were vicious and anti-catholic—her idea. The demeaning the neighbor—as an evil republican her statement. Now playing the race card on Va. Tech.
This is one bitter and mean spirited woman. I don’t know how she was before but my guess is she always had this bitterness. BTW it doesn’t fit his smiling campaign of hope.

Stewart says NASCAR rigged like wrestling - Motor Sports - MSNBC.com

Stewart says NASCAR rigged like wrestling - Motor Sports - MSNBC.com

they are going to get him for this
Do I agree—well not totally and that is sad in itself. I do think NASCAR will help Jr. and the 24 when ever possible—any time any place anywhere.
However, what they really want is close races at the end and they will throw the heck out of flags for non-existent debris to get it. However, if the 24 is leading I’m not sure the big one will cause a flag to fly.
Sorry I feel this way but it is my opinion and is one of the reasons I’ve almost stopped caring about NASCAR—almost like the WWE except with les steroids and more cars.

Wal-Mart to open 400 in-store clinics Health Reuters.com
I love stories like this

This one puts people in a bad position—Wal-Mart supporters might not like the “fact” that wal-mart might become the medical center of choice for illegals. On the other hand the Wal-Mart haters also “love” the illegal.s

It just seems like a natural extension of the brand—Sears tried this with dentists and optometrists it think. But that was sears and this is wal mart.

ABC News: Sheryl Crow Clears the Air About Toilet Paper Comments

they might be overly nuanced
Crow now claims it was a joke—the toilet paper thing. Notice how everything a lefty says that doesn’t get a popular response was a joke? maybe not but it sure seems like it.
Sure wish us yokels were smart enough to get all their jokes. Guess that Baldwin guy was joking as was Edwards when he got his hair cut.

Seems the press can always tell a joke except when someone like McCain makes an obvious one.

Car theft victims pay police £105 to investigate-News-UK-Crime-TimesOnline

Car theft victims pay police £105 to investigate-News-UK-Crime-TimesOnline

just what the heck happened to a once efficient police force

I know they say the fee is for storage but if you have kept up over the last few years the police in the UK have been following a trend. That trend is away from the safety of regular people and toward more coddling of criminals and also the work of the thought police. Read the log for the one where they investigate a 12 year old for using the word gay in an email—
Really these people must be crazy I can see now how over the years things change—sort of like in Fahrenheit 451.
Looks like in the next two generations the role of the police in England will be to protect the criminals.

Apparently the badgers are damaging property but it is illegal to harm them. The traps don’t seem to work and permits are required to even attempt it on a temporary basis. Can’t even put those up now as the badger pups must be protected. It doesn’t sound like they are endangered just being protected by the idiots who run the place.

Because in hindsight it looks to be the wrong one—just who was in the room ? What did they discuss? Didn’t’ they make the decision solely on the basis of nightly ratings? Who is going to resign for the mistake? When are they holding a prèss conference so we can ask in person?

Sorry just wanted to give NBC a taste of what real decision makers get from them all the time.

it’s the memory lane Thursday three
I like these because the restaurant question brings back memories of family now long gone.
1. I guess I would mention the Super Sandwich Shop—located on the Bessemer Super Hwy in Wilkes[sp] gone now but it is still the standard I use to measure BBQ and fries. The other would be the Bright Star in Bessemer—still going strong—Sunday after church was wonderful and we ate there a lot during the week also—it wasn’t as expensive then. I learned I like lamb after trying a Sunday special.
2. Can’t remember the name of the park but before it got filled with official ball fields we used to play sand lot baseball there. I lived on the top of a hill without a good ball yard so we would ride our bikes and play with whoever was there—I still love baseball.
3. If I had to pay then it was not much to see a double feature at the State Theater on 18th street in Bessemer Al. State was the lower rent one in town and Saturday was double feature day—I still love me some westerns.

remember the good old days were good because we were young

Florida - Trends: Couples Build Homes With Dual Master Bedrooms

Florida - Trends: Couples Build Homes With Dual Master Bedrooms
I think they might sell
This does appear to be a trend. No matter how much one loves the other being in love doesn’t mean that both share the same sleeping preferences. It would seem these preferences tend to narrow as people get older. Things like tolerance to noise, light and temperature become critical for some people. Also not all couples have to wake or retire at the same time.
It will be interesting however, to see the effect on resale value.

FOXNews.com - Parents Demand Firing of Virginia Tech President, Police Chief Over Poor Handling of Mass Shooting - Local News News Articles National News US News

Well one parent in a panic==
OK John Strouds—how
I understand this guy was worried about his daughter—but I’m guessing he is very liberal as he wants everyone fired. He also wants a lock down of the entire campus—is he so stupid that he doesn’t know a campus is like a small city?—yes lock down the city! Put a guard on each door—don’t let anyone move- just how Mr. “know it all” are you going to get this done? There are likely more buildings on a campus than there are security officers—very effective for a lock down—there are probably more doors on the campus that would have to be guarded than there are police in the entire county.
Also you criticize the email warning—just how do you think the university should get the word out? They don’t have a speaker system like in high school this is basically a small contained city.
Get over your self and shut up—you sound like someone in a panic who doesn’t know “jack”. Perhaps you are.

SI.com - NFL - Pacman suspended for season; Bengals' Henry gets 8 games - Tuesday April 10, 2007 1:23PM

I have a new respect for the new commissioner

Either way he wins. If the union goes along with the suspension then the word gets out to the miscreants. It the unions really pushes an appeal hard they are now weakened in the public and perhaps the players eyes. If an appeal is upheld but not totally overturned he commish gets credit for being tough and the bad guys are put on record.

Las Vegas SUN: Author: At-Home Moms Should Work Instead

typical liberal crap
The stay at home mom debate—wouldn’t touch that. It’s the reaction of the author that interests me. She claims she meant no harm and no offense to the stay at homes but seems rather put out that anyone would not follow her advice—she being liberal and smart and all. Her quote about “hitting a nerve” is what I really like. Every time some fool says something and makes someone angry they attempt to blame the people who are angry. Lady is you are as smart and wonderful as you think you should have seen this coming.
Also a bit of advice most people don’t like advice from those pretending to be their betters.

Las Vegas SUN: Crackdown on Fugitives Nets Many Arrests

Las Vegas SUN: Crackdown on Fugitives Nets Many Arrests

just when did the government have to start justifying the arrest of people breaking the law
This article involves the targeting and round up of illegal aliens with criminal records. The article then moves where the writer wants which is a discussion of how bad it is to target illegals living where the criminals used to be—you know the good illegals.
So my questions is when did the illegal aliens have a right to be here if they don’t further break the law.

I think I know the answer. I had a conversation with a colleague a few months ago and I asked if she believed that everyone in the world “deserved” to be a U.S. citizen. Her answer was that there were people born here that didn’t deserve to be. I think she meant conservatives and those who did not agree with her views on immigration. So I know the type of person who would not agree with arresting people for crime.
