Medical Board Wants Death Penalty Lawsuit Dropped :: WRAL.com
NC medical board trying to set capital punishment policy
The medical board issued a policy that said MD's could be disciplined for participating in executions. Now they say that since they have punished no one the Dept. of Corrections shouldn't sue them.
Hey docs you got caught trying to force the state into a policy the voters don't want.

not a good day
The teaching and the office hours will probably go OK but I have a funeral to take part in this afternoon and I’m dreading it.
I hate doing funerals for young people. This kid is within a couple of weeks the same age as my son and they played together for a very short while when both were toddlers.
What a shame—I hate this.

Seniors May Get Doughnuts After All :: WRAL.com
There is always one
One what? One asshat that knows what is best for you and will push it through. Nanny
state person is worried that doughnuts were bad for the elderly and
should be banned from a senior center. The center got free day old
pastries and provided them for free.
Well, some know it all county officials made them disappear and now are trying to back track after looking like fools.
I propose the officials be fired-- usually I don't think firing is the best remedy but an example just might keep the other do gooders at bay.

the training has been canceled
To my faculty colleagues --
The training session “how to turn two parking places into three while using the gravel lot” has been canceled. It appears you already know how to do this.
Jerks—
I know your old Neon is a classic to you but it ain’t a 57 T-Bird fella. There is no reason to park it so others cannot get a place.

Panera Bread › Home
this is a terrible place for a meeting
I'm here waiting to meet tow other people. We have to make some decisions about a church staff retreat that seems to be falling apart.
the reason that Panera is terrible isn't that it has good coffee, free Wi-Fi but that it has great baked products. the kind I'm not supposed to have. however i think a bagel or twelve just might be in my future.

it’s double anniversary day
Four years ago on this date I finally started a blog. Terry had been encouraging me to do this for a while. I’ve enjoyed the run and while it’s not over it will change when possumblog ends. This blog will return to a more change and change management area.
I still don’t know why I started it on this date but it’s a great one. On this date thirty-three years ago Sylvia and I were married. Quite a nice run for someone who doesn’t usually fish his projects, I think.
We’re going out to eat and to a movie tonight—I don’t generally enjoy movies but she wants to go.

the last one
1. I think my favorite post over the years must have been either “rules for architecture” or the stuff from Weevil State. I know I asked for links and didn’t put any but the cable modem has been out and I have a meeting soon.
2. Probably like most of us I’ll miss the meeting place that possumblog was/is. Of course I’ll miss the humor and Terry’s perspective on things but also the community.
3. The blog was the focal point of a real community and showed me that I don’t have to see people to get to be friends. I hope we will stay in touch but know it will never be like it was. That will be sorely missed.

Katrina victims lose in appeals court - Yahoo! News
This seems to be the right ruling
You need water that was wind driven or a flood policy. However, expect the usual folks to be railing against it. Because these are Katrina victims and all rules should change because Bush hates them.
