students back in control?
We tried that in the 60’s and it didn’t work

WRAL.com - EDUCATION - Gallaudet Votes To Remove Incoming President

a quote from the board --"Although undoubtedly there will be some members of the community who have differing views on the meaning of this decision, we believe that it is a necessity at this point," the board said in a written statement.

Let me tell you what it means –it means you caved and given up any hope of retaking authority. The board has shown it can re rolled and will be rolled again whenever a group wants to.

FOXNews.com - 'Studio 60’ Cancellation Iminent - Celebrity Gossip | Entertainment News | Arts And Entertainment

No I don’t, really. The premise of this show—what little I’ve watched—is that they are smart and the rest of us are stupid and backward. They in this case being blue staters but not all blue people. If you come from certain places meaning not from the northeast of L.A. you have to be a rube. Who basically wants to watch actors giving speeches and most of them slaps at red-state people.

I’m sorry but he is just another self interested lobbyist
cbs2chicago.com - Michael J. Fox In Town To Campaign For Dems

I don’t want to sound too negative but when you are campaigning –apparently for democrats whether they are for your issue of not you, your motives are fair game. I’m sorry he has Parkinson’s—runs in my family too and my understanding that puts me at higher risk—I also don’t get bent out of shape with what he wants. However, let’s not give him his crown yet—he basically is a promoter of his own self-interest.
I have no problem with self-interest but pursuing it doesn’t make you courageous.

no more calls please we have a winner
FOUL FLY BAWL By KATE SHEEHY - New York Post Online Edition: Seven

In the self absorbed sweepstakes that is. The ability to see a bigger picture than your own is a key to maturity—the Yankees apparently don’t have it.
Their proposed Christmas ornament—Santa in a small plane—nope we have had no players killed in small planes lately so what is the fuss. Besides he was only here part of the year and not like he was a real Yankee.

New publication hits Pitt County
They are trying to niche this thing in the area of “fun” or activity type things not just real news. Also are trying to get outside the county. Good luck to them.

what do I do on some Monday mornings?
The online students had deadlines last night. This was for a three week module of the course. So, today I have to deal with questions about test questions—I hold them all until the module is over as it saves me numerous mouse clicks. I also have to deal with those few who encountered computer problems last night. I don’t think they were faking as I had the same problems getting in to the site.

not to be critical of the NY TIMES but
Las Vegas SUN: Suicide Note Leads to Dismembered Body

The Times interviewed this couple. Why couldn’t they see this coming—why didn’t they prevent this—I know it was months ago but they are the TIMES and they expect others to see things in the future why didn’t they warn anyone?

I know this is snarky but it sounds familiar doesn’t it.

NBC to make cuts
BREITBART.COM - NBC Universal makes $750M in cuts by reducing staff, scripted shows, news budget

In the spirit of most of their shows I think we the public—the great unwashed—need to ask a questions. What is wrong with us that we made them do this? Why oh why don’t we watch the shows out betters offer up to us?

Radio and Records

The people who started “Air America” are trying another liberal network. I would have more confidence in this venture if the same people who started the last one weren’t all doing it again.
Do they have any reason for why they failed—other than that Rove guy and stupid listeners?

it’s the well thought out Thursday three

1. Status show off stuff—I really can’t think of anything—I like stuff but probably would be just as happy with other stuff or less stuff even.
2. The time I go to bed varies basically with the time I must get up. That time varies with my class schedule and that changes every semester. I like to stay up late however this summer with the broken ankle I got into a schedule that stayed up late –didn’t sleep very late at all and then took a nap. That was actually nice.
3. I can’t remember when the internet thing first came to my attention. I remember years and years ago some people from the computer area talking about it and then later getting on some list serves. I guess my real interest like many others came when a real browser got out there.

A group of M.D.’s suggesting that kids have unstructured playtime. The real shocker is that they didn’t blame the lack of time on Bush or Rove. Well maybe they did but I didn’t read that far.

conference just about over
There is one last session going on before the luncheon. I think I’ll sit in the lobby and drink coffee while I work on my paper for another conference in the winter.
I was feeling picked on this morning as I was in a session that had papers on cigarette taxes and exercising for the elderly.
My wife wanted to shop more at the outlets and thus I’ll be going to the lunch. I usually don’t go as it is a hotel meal and I never win an award. Still I guess I show up and applaud for the people who make these things work.

who is a manager?
My Way Finance

The issue off who is a manager isn’t just an academic one. Supervisors—first line managers are not covered under the labor relations laws of the country. The National Labor Relations board has apparently issued new guidelines concerning nurses. R.N.’s have always been hard to classify as all floor/staff nurses tend to have some supervisory responsibilities.
